Choosing your venue is the first big decision in planning a wedding in Mallorca, and it shapes almost everything that follows: your date, your guest list, your budget and the feel of the whole celebration.
The island has an incredible choice of places to marry, from old stone estates in the Tramuntana mountains to terraces right on the sea. That choice is wonderful, but from abroad it can feel overwhelming. Many venues look alike online and work very differently in practice.
After more than 300 weddings here, these are the things I talk through with every couple before we start looking.
You don’t need every detail before you start, but rough answers to these four questions will narrow the search quickly.
It also helps to think about the feeling you want: relaxed or elegant, rustic or polished, sea views or mountains. Save pictures you love; they say more than any list.
These details rarely appear on a venue’s website, yet they can change everything about how your day runs.
The hire fee is rarely the full cost of marrying at a venue, so it’s worth knowing what sits around it.
Venues price in very different ways. Some charge for the space only. Others include furniture, staff, cleaning or accommodation. Some work on a minimum spend, where your food and drink count towards the total.
When you compare venues, ask what the price includes and what you’d need to add: catering, drinks, furniture and linen, lighting, toilets or generators at rural venues, guest transport and security. A higher fee that includes more can be better value than a cheaper venue where everything is extra. Prices also change with the season and the day of the week, so a flexible date can make a real difference.
Each part of Mallorca gives a wedding a different feel, and your choice also shapes your guests’ whole stay.
| Setting | What it feels like | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| The coast | Sea views, sunsets and a relaxed holiday atmosphere | Seafront venues are popular, so book early. Wind can be a factor. |
| The mountains | Dramatic scenery, old stone estates and cooler evenings | Roads are winding, so plan guest transport and allow extra time. |
| The countryside | Fincas among olive and almond trees, peaceful and private | Often exclusive use, but more likely to have music curfews and need extras brought in. |
| Palma and towns | Historic buildings, restaurants and nightlife on the doorstep | Easy for guests staying in the city and close to the airport. Space and noise rules can be tighter. |
Many couples mix settings, for example welcome drinks by the sea and the wedding itself in the countryside.
Keep these to hand when you browse venues online or visit in person.
If you’d like someone to do the searching for you, my Venue Discovery & Tour service takes you from hundreds of options to a curated shortlist of venues that truly fit, then I take you to see them in person and help you decide with confidence.
